Wooclap is an interactive polling presentation platform designed to collect and display real-time responses from participants.
Brown University is currently supporting a pilot initiative to assess the effectiveness and capabilities of Wooclap as a real-time polling solution.
How to connect Wooclap to a Canvas assignment
Log in to Canvas at canvas.brown.edu.
Click Courses in the Global Navigation menu on the left, then select your course.
Select Assignments in your course site navigation
Click the blue +Assignment button to create a new assignment
Modify the assignment settings (ie. title, description, point value, etc.)
Scroll down to the Submission Type assignment setting
From the drop-down menu, select External Tool
Click Find and scroll through the external tool options, the click Create a Wooclap Event
- Select how you would like to set up your Wooclap event
If this is the first time you are using Wooclap, select the Create from scratch option
- Click Select from the Configure External Tool settings
- Click Save or Save & Publish to complete the assignment creation
How to create and edit your Wooclap eventĀ
- Open the Wooclap assignment you just created and click Load in a new window
You will now be directed out of Canvas to the Wooclap event creation desktop
- Click the + New Question button to open the question type options you can choose from for your event
- Select a question type, then proceed with entering the question text, as well as the polling options you would like users to select from
- After you populate your question details, click Save or Display Now
Click Save to retain this event question for later use, or choose Display Now to run your event immediately
- You can continue to add new questions to your event using the blue + New Question button
Alternatively you can:
- Click import questions to import previously created questions into your event
- Click Examples Gallery to view and import pre-generated questions into your event that you can edit
How to start your Wooclap event
- Navigate back to the question creation interface in Wooclap then click the blue Start Event button
Users must first navigate to Wooclap via a Canvas site assignment prior to participating in an event
- Once users have navigated to Wooclap via Canvas, they should confirm their attendance identity information (they will not be prompted if the attendance requirement is not enabled in Wooclap event settings)
- Users can then participate in the polling questions at the moderator's discretion
How to review Wooclap polling results
- To view Wooclap event results, click on the results button on the left of the event interface screen
