Pope Tech in Canvas provides instructors with two accessibility dashboard types to help make monitoring and managing accessibility in courses easier.
What Are the Two Types of Dashboards Available to Instructors?
- Displays accessibility data for a single, specific course
- Provides detailed information about accessibility issues within that particular course
- Allows instructors to focus on one course at a time
- Shows accessibility data for all courses an instructor has access to
- Provides a comprehensive overview across multiple courses
- Enables instructors to see the big picture of accessibility across their teaching portfolio

Both dashboard types include:
- Accessibility widgets that identify where issues exist
- Direct navigation to problem areas for quick fixes
- Tools to streamline the remediation process
These dashboards help instructors efficiently identify and resolve accessibility barriers, ensuring course content is accessible to all students.
How Do I Access Course Dashboards?
In the global navigation, select Courses. Then, select a course.
Find and select Pope Tech Accessibility in your course navigation.
Click through any prompts to authorize/enable the tool and access your dashboard.
What Are Individual Course Dashboard Widgets?
The Overview Widget provides a summary of accessibility issues in your course, showing the total number of errors and alerts.
- Select Errors or Alerts to view the complete list of issues in your course
- Select Details >> to choose the specific issue you want to address
- Select Details >> again to expand and see full issue information
- Select Edit to opens the Accessibility Guide where you can fix the issue

The most common issues widget shows the errors and alerts that happen the most.
- Select the Errors or Alerts tab to switch between viewing the most common errors or alerts
- Select a common issue to view all content blocks that have this specific issue
- Select Edit -to open the Accessibility Guide to fix the content block
The content blocks widget breaks down how many errors and alerts are in each content block in the course.
A content block can be a page, syllabus, quiz, assignment, or discussion.
Optional: Change the filters and select Apply.
Select Details >> for the content block to see its accessibility results, or select Edit to go straight to the Accessibility Guide to edit that content block.
What Are All-Courses Dashboard Widgets?
This will help to address a specific error or alert, or view the number of courses you have access to.
- Select Errors or Alerts to choose which issue type to view
- Filter by term or course (Optional) to narrow down results if needed
- Select Details >> to choose the specific error or alert
- Select Details >> again to choose the specific course
- Select Edit to open the Accessibility Guide to fix the content block
The most common issues widget shows the errors and alerts that happen the most in all the courses you have access to.
- Select a common error or alert to choose the issue you want to address
- Select Details >> to choose the specific course
- Select Edit -to open the Accessibility Guide to fix the content block
Review how many PDFs, YouTube videos, and Excel Sheets there are across all courses in the content types widget.
- Select a content type to choose PDF, YouTube, or Excel Sheet
- Select Details >> to choose the specific course
- Select Edit to open the Accessibility Guide to fix the content block
Please note that Panopto videos, PDFs, and other documents are not checked by Pope Tech at this time.
The Courses widget is a list of all the courses you have edit access to.
- Select Details >> to choose the specific course to open its dashboard
- Review course accessibility data to view errors and alerts count, most common issues, and all content blocks

Take action on content blocks:
- Select Details >> to view accessibility results for a specific content block
- Select Edit to open the Accessibility Guide and fix the content block directly
