How Do I Get Elevated Access For My UTAs?

How to Get Elevated Access for Undergraduate TAs in Canvas

Typically, Undergraduate TAs (UTAs) are granted “edit only” access in Canvas which includes the ability to add/edit/ delete course files, assignments, discussions, etc. In some cases, however, instructors may also require that their UTAs have access to Speegrader as part of their course responsibilities. As this level of access is an exception to Brown's policy, primary course instructors must request this elevated access from the DLD ([email protected]).

The DLD requires instructors to fill out this form and agree to policy guidelines. Once the form is submitted, the process of making the requested access changes can proceed.

For courses that have requested an elevated access exception for the Undergraduate TAs, their role will be changing to help faculty identify Undergraduate TAs that have received the elevated access:

  • Old UTA role name:  Undergraduate TA*
  • New UTA role name:  Undergraduate TA Grader
